I never imagined I’d find myself genuinely captivated by a kids’ show, yet here I am, completely charmed by Steven Universe. Introduced to it by my girlfriend, I’ve been amazed by the sheer depth, warmth, and care poured into every episode. It’s clear this isn’t just another cartoon—it’s a show crafted with love and a sincerity that’s genuinely inspiring, even influencing the tone and storytelling in my own book.
What’s even more delightful is that my son has become just as invested. He’s so into it that he’s started getting ahead of us in episodes, which is both amusing and a bit alarming—no spoilers, please!
Though we’re only a dozen or so episodes in, I’m already eagerly anticipating the rest of the journey. The gentle humor, heartfelt moments, and thoughtful themes create something truly special, an absolute joy to experience as a family.
Interestingly enough, my current viewing schedule pairs Steven Universe with the new season of Daredevil, and let’s just say the tonal shift between these two shows is… considerable. Yet, it’s refreshing.
My only real gripe is: how has there not been a genuinely good Steven Universe video game yet? A show this rich deserves a game that’s equally thoughtful and lovingly made. Come on, game developers—make it happen!
